BITEC was brimming with attendees and activity this week as high-profile energy trailblazers took part in panels, knowledge hubs talks, and live interviews held at the on-site studio. During the 3-day interactive event, new innovations and initiatives were unveiled by leading energy organisations and major ASEAN utilities in the exhibition forum.

Special guests such as Stanley Huang, Group Chief Executive Officer at SP Group, Jimmy Khoo, the CEO for Powergrid Singapore Power, Prasertsak Cherngchawano, the Deputy Governor of EGAT, and Dato’ Indera Ir Baharin Bin Din, President, and CEO of TNB Malaysia, set the stage for this high profile event with their opening day speeches for Enlit Asia Bangkok 2022. In the well-attended, electrifying summit co-located with Enlit Asia, Sustainable Energy Technology Asia (SETA) 2022 and Solar+Storage Asia (SSA) 2022, attendees remarked this was an event unlike any other with only the best content and the highest level of speakers.

One of our most esteemed partners had this to say, “The 2022 Enlit Asia show was a success for G&W Electric. This was our first year of participation and we were extremely pleased by the quality of participants who visited our booth. It was a great channel for us to strengthen our brand and educate customers on our latest innovations,” shared John Gounaris, Head of Marketing, G&W Electric.

For Roger Feranda, the Customer Solutions Director Asia Pacific for Trilliant, he shared the event was a great way to get in front of key potential clients.

“As a diamond sponsor, we see a tremendous opportunity in events like Enlit Asia 2022. After 2 years of being in lockdown in virtual communications only, we were pleased to attend. One of the reasons we are here is because all of our big customers are all here, like TNB, PEA, MEA, and Singapore Power and other utilities. We were able to demonstrate as well as having face-to-face communications. Giving them a full look at our full suite of products, upcoming projects as well as opportunities and projects in Malaysia, Thailand and India,” Roger said.

The inspired speaker line-up and unique content also was a main attraction with summit focused on 6 key challenges: (1) Decarbonised Power Generation; (2) Fortifying and Creating a Next-Gen Power Grid; (3) The Electrification of The ASEAN Economy; (4) Electricity Prices Surging Due to Unexpected Circumstances; (5) Enabling Renewable Energy to Meet RE Targets; and (6) The Roadmap to Net-Zero.

Decarbonisation was a timely topic and during the conference, many of the panellists shared that rising fuel costs as impacting business and consumers inclusive of President and CEO of TNB Malaysia.

“If we continue to experience the effects of high fuel prices, a more balanced fuel mix will enhance digital energy stability and security and can offset the potential implications of this fuel shortage. An interconnect grid will help individual countries diversify fuels and will allow them to rely on neighbours during times of crisis,” shared Datuk Baharin during his keynote speech.

TNB’s attendance like that of other leading utilities like EGAT, MEA, PEA, TNB, EVN, PLN, SP Group, Quezon Power and PT Indonesia Power added gravitas and prestige to the summit which 1000s attended.

This year attendees were finally afforded a much-needed opportunity to be reunited between clients and partners. The Enlit summit acted as a connector for attendees so that they could seek out new partners and interact face-to-face which wasn’t possible before.

Over the last 3 days, Enlit Asia 2022 also was a showcase for technical insights and innovative solutions such as drone technology, big data analytics, cloud platforms, geospatial information systems, virtual power plants, communication networks and much more were at the forefront today. Our partners such as Tesla, Oracle, G&W Electric, Babcock & Wilcox, Wärtsilä Corporation, Trilliant, Mitsubishi Power, Black and Veatch, JERA and others all welcomed the chance to meet once again with clients and share their expertise with ASEAN energy leaders.

The impact of Enlit Asia 2022 was that attendees voiced they would depart with thought leadership ideologies surrounding topics of strategic and commercial importance to the region’s power value chain and a better understanding of what their peers are undertaking in their own energy transitions.

As attendees begin their journeys back home, the Enlit Asia team is already planning next year’s conference. It will be challenging to top this year’s show, but the team aims to do just that in 2023.
